55g sump

i would just use the KISS theory (keep it simple stupid)

depends if you want to do a wet/dry unit as well.. but if it was me to make it easy to clean and maintain, this is what i would do is something like this ... ya odnt really even need bio balls use pot scrubbies waaaay cheaper and have a bigger BB surface area, yea can even make a tray with egg crate to hold your filter mads cheap quick and easy to swap it out and or clean it, and rather then filter floss between the two dividers you can always use dishwashing sponges cheap easy to clean as well... ad for the pipes that go in the sump draining water i would have them vertical over the filter pads you have and then have slots cut in the bottom of them so water covers and get filters through more of the pad rather then just one area from a dump i had a pic of one somewere but cant find it right now... thats what i would do

If you want to KISS then just use filter socks and ceramic noodles or matrix submerged in bags, no baffles required and far better mechanical filtration than floss/wool. There's a few people running set ups like that, JCardona1 and aldiaz33 both keep great tanks with very simple sumps.

It is a perfect layout.
If you want to go over the top a bit, a 55 has room to put 2 filter socks next to each other on the influent by using a T to split the flow.

I don't know. A friend gave me this drawing and said to use it as my sump for my 300g here's the overflow an the box. And holes. And in the fist pics you see a small hole under the overflow there's two of those one in the front and one on the left on each over flow what are they is that we're the spray bar goes. I never had a sump do I don't know what to do at all? Not even with the pipes.
