So one of my cichlids has gone in the rock structure on the right and is barricading him self inside of it. He is taking rocks inside his mouth from inside, and then spitting them out on the outside making walls. Is this ok? Should i be concerned about the rocks falling because he is digging out everything underneath? Should i even out the rocks?

ok, great. Just was wondering if she was laying eggs or something. Should i even the coral back out or just let the building continue?
All that my cichlids are doing is hiding in caves. Is this normal? BTW, i will be getting more loaches and cichlid hopefully this weekend. 
My cichlids never hide and i have africans, Sa/Ca...
I do have alot of hiding spaces for them but the only thing that hides in my tank are the plecos and catfish i have.
Maybe you should try adding more africans as they may be hiding due to agression?

So in my school we need to do a 2 year science research project to gradate, for mine i choose to do something with fish, my question is "Does higher percentages of protein in fish food, increase growth rate? I will be using 2 different types of fish food. One with a 30 percent protien cont.a dn one with a 50 percentage or higher protien content. I will be using 4 10 gallon tanks with goldfish. I will put one gold fish in each one and feed 2 tanks one type and 2 tanks another type of food. I will get the gold fish at about 1in (comets) and keep them for 2 months to do the experiment before they get rehomed. I will be doing 3 trials. Sorry for the bad spelling. Just wanted to bang it out. Any suggestions or thoughts? I am using standard ten gal tanks and aquatech 5-15 filters. I will get some picts up tonight. Planning on starting experiment in about a month.
I just got a used Fluval 204 for $30 shipped on ebay. Good deal? I will be planning on adding it to my 55 along with the aqueon 55. Was going to get a fluval 305 but it was used for $70 shipped....... Good decision??
