IMO they are pretty good filters but the AC are far superior. If you do go with an emperor 400 i would suggest you buy a bulk roll of polyfiber and cut some pieces to fit. On my penguin 350 i currently have 1 of the filter pads for the canister and 2 polyfiber pads behind it. The polyfiber catches smaller particles than the filters that come with the emperor/penguin series and is a must have IMO. These filters are not bad, but the canister design of the Aquaclear is far superior.

The Aquaclear is alot easier to clean as well and with the huge sponge that it brings you barely even have to clean it compared to the marinelands!

That ebay link you pointed out out I'd just like to say you can go wrong with that. I ordered 2 of those and when I got them they were both damaged. On the plastic wrapping on the actual aquaclear boxes it had damaged wrote on it. On of the boxes had a hole broke in it. One the end of one of the intake tubes was broken which was no big deal. The other the case was broken. The shipping box was in perfect condition though so it seemed they just sent me damaged products. Of course when I emailed them they said they were sorry my items got damaged during shipping. I emailed them back and told them to forget about it if they were going to unfairly blame UPS. I taped the one together for now since I needed it. They said UPS was going to investigate. I'm not one of those people with no conscience that is willing to let someone get blamed for something they didn't do just so I can get my stuff.
 
Well i will be getting the 204 on Monday probably. Any constructive ideas or advice?
 
Still waiting for the 204 to come in. Going to order new filters and polishing pads for it. Planning on keeping the Biomax that it comes with. Good idea? Going to use marineland diamond blend in a bag in place of carbon filters. Sound good? Also, i am getting a Aqua Clear 110!!!!! Should be hear in like 10 days. Tank is not very clean at the moment and has lot of particles floating around. Not to happy with it. I currently have an assortment of 11 African Cichlids, 3 Clown Loachs and 1 Common Pleco. Currently running the Aqueon 55 and a whisper 10-30i. Once the other filters come in and are seeded planning on moving the Aq. 55 to the 20 gallon, replacing the Whisper 20ex and Aquatech 5-15. Pretty wild assortment, right? Lol. Any comments, recommendations would be greatly app. Thanks
 
Just a quick update. Need to find a better camera. Its pretty out of focus.
