Even though they are illegal doesn't deter some people from owning them. Thats why people own snakeheads clarias catfish and asian arowanas in Auz and USA, even tho they are illegal.

Wel you saw a ray at your lfs right. Ask them because obviously they know people. BTW I wouldn't be talking about that on a public forum if I were you. Best way is to get to know people and ask questions. Best way to learn.

I said he was just giving me hopes, and I'm not trying to get an asian Arowanas(don't mind getting one though). I'm still confused about my LFS here selling that FW Ray for $200. The shop is pretty legit and huge, why would they risk of selling illegal fishes?

Well because there would be demand for them in CA. People would want them and pay for them o the LFS will get them in and sell them fairly quickly.
