Still making progress. We filled it up tonight and put in the pool filter sand. Its starting to seem real. :)

Adding the pool filter sand.

Messy stuff. We're filtering it out with two sock filters, and super fine filtration pad before this reaches the pump.

Eric trying to eliminate the mountains of sand and stir it up a bit before the catfish get in there.

Finally starting to get to see through the the haze, and we found a giant crater. I think we need a spray bar or something.

We were supposed to pick it up in August, but then schedules were insane. We picked it up in Sept. and there's been drama (landlord), hurdles (such as electrical set up in garage), and hard work that needed to get over and done with before we were able to get this up.

I am excited to see fish in it. Too bad You guys dont live near me. I would love to feed your fish treats. Would it be possible to have a feeding video of this monsterous tank in the near future?

Congrats on the awesome tank cant wait to see it up and going and seeing a feeding video of your cats would be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the compliments on the tank. We're very excited. I've been working to get fish in there tonight. I'm currently putting off cleaning up my now somewhat flooded garage. We purposefully had the sump over full to maximize the size of filter pad we could use to clean up the tank sooner... But then I bumped the filter pad and almost sent sand into the pump. Instead of potentially damaging the pump, I opted to turn off and close off the pump and just allow the garage to flood as it is on a decent incline. Turns out, though, they didn't pour the concrete quite correctly and it pools just before it leaves the garage. Hmmm... didn't see that one coming. Oh well...Anything that can't get wet is always off the ground.

Amazing tank! cant wait too see it up n running. I wish my gf was into fish like you.

This is just something that we found fit us really well. The hobby has a lot of different aspects including everything from engineering to creating the look of the tank to understanding the biology. For us it combines a lot of our interests. and I think the fact that we both can contribute in our own way with our different strengths keeps us interested. We kind of feed of each other's ideas and energy with this so all this keeps getting bigger. I think that happens with any hobby when you have two motivated people with different strengths working on it together and not stepping on each others toes (at least too much). It works well for us. Maybe there is an aspect of the fish keeping hobby she might be able to help with that could snag her interest.

Awesome tank! You have a sis? LOL
No. Just a brother. I could ask, but I think his girlfriend would kick my butt. ;) Hehehe. Just messing you. :D Thanks for the compliment.

That's amazing.

I thought it was a big deal when we got the 120.

I bet you're gonna put some cool animals in there.

We think so. Currently a group of catfish from around the world will call this tank home. Eventually, when the catfish need to get upgraded again, this will be home to my fire eels and some others.

Looks good Jen, way to keep the tradition going.

Now tell Eric to jump in there once it's completely filled =-)

I was just gonna send you a PM last night that it is filled back up, but was freaking exhausted from the very LONG weekend and thought I'd at least get photos up.

Um, If anyone's gonna be willing to swim for a camera, its going to be me and I'm pretty reluctant. :( However, that water will be cranked up to 80 degrees for sure before I put a toe in it. Also, I need to finish clearing it up first to make it even worth while. We can see through it completely this morning, but it is a little milky looking. I need to replace the filter pad with a new section and stir up the sand again so that we get the majority of the dusty particles out. I'm still not decided on posting the picture.

We will get tons of photos and video. We'll hopefully fish in it tonight. Depending on how late it is and how tired I am, I'll post more pics tonight or late tomorrow morning.
