Just flooded my garage for the second, yes 2nd, time today. First flood was a choice to save the pump after I almost sent sand into it. The second one was caused by me forgetting that I turned off the overflow values during the earlier flood. I had mini Niagara Falls flowing over the lower end of the tank. Oops! I got it set so that it would stop filling, but I just had to stand there and watch the down pour till it ended. I couldn't stop laughing about the fact that I originally planned to have this indoors.

Wow...definitely lucky that it's in the garage. That could've been real messy in the house.

That would have flooded my living room and possibly got the floor of the condo next to me slightly wet too. That's exactly why its outside. Both my gut and logic said no to the tank in the house.

Oh seriously! Water conservation has been ingrained in me since I was little so even filling this thing up makes me feel guilty. You have no idea how bad I feel when that much water just pours down the gutter unused. Heck I feel bad about water changes on my 180/100 combo!

This is just something that we found fit us really well. The hobby has a lot of different aspects including everything from engineering to creating the look of the tank to understanding the biology. For us it combines a lot of our interests. and I think the fact that we both can contribute in our own way with our different strengths keeps us interested. We kind of feed of each other's ideas and energy with this so all this keeps getting bigger. I think that happens with any hobby when you have two motivated people with different strengths working on it together and not stepping on each others toes (at least too much). It works well for us. Maybe there is an aspect of the fish keeping hobby she might be able to help with that could snag her interest.
Key word there is "US".
Too many people L.O.V.E., love, this hobby way too much to share it with a significant other.
You see posts all the time where somebody
wants to hang/shoot/torture/mame their Boyfriend/Girlfriend/Mom/Dad/brother/sister, or what ever, for the silliest things that happen when they trust a feeding or something while they are away. I'm afraid anybody they ever find, that they want to share their beloved hobby with, will fall terribly short...:(

The two of you both share a common interest and neither of you have laid claim to the hobby as "MINE". There is most definitely a wide array of subjects that fishkeeping requires,
plenty for both of you to "sink your teeth" into
By sharing the work and the rewards, it sounds like the two of you are a good team, and in this day and age that is a GREAT thing!! It shows in the progression of your hardware.
Most people deem us absolutely "sick with it".
The first time they see 100+ gallons they know we are totally insane.
The two of you have just corralled your landlords car with a
"Portable 600 gallon Monster",
Put together a 100 piece PVC 3-D Jigsaw,
Un-bagged 1/4 ton of sand,
and found the low spot in a Flooded garage!!...
And I see positive energy, and not a hint negativity,
Just smiles and poses!!
Good Job you two,
and I also, am looking forward to seeing your progress...
Keep on taking your time and enjoy every minute of it, I know I would.;) :D

200gals is a 33% W/C, you can water your garden, your neighbors, their neighbors...LOLOL!

I know how many times I filled and emptied my 225g when I set it up, it was weeks before I felt like I could safely run it in the house and it was brand new...;)
