I love stumbling upon long threads I have never seen before....
It's a great way to kill 2 hours.

First, great thread, info., and cats. You and your husband are real keepers.

Second, goes to Ridah and his photo and plumbing skills. Your videos are great too.:)

Third, were's the feeding vid? All the kitties look fat and sassy all the time.

Well Done!!!

When I "grow" up I want to be just like Jenn :D I'm so glad you finally got another ID!! I picked up an albino I saw about a month ago and he's already tripled in size, (much different than the rescue I had first gotten, which I am wondering now if he's stunted). I saw a 600 gallon set up at a store recently and thought about you. My hubby walked in the back room and saw me on the floor in front of it with my face smashed up against it. Talk about trying to explain it! "um, i was just, um... trying to picture our fish in there... you know like the girl on MFK?? Remember?? with the really cool cat tank??" lol

what a great update and explanation of the plumbing! How in the world did you keep it all straight when you un/re-installed it?

I thought the arrows might help for people that liked this and wanted to borrow ideas from it. As for keeping it straight, we took photos, tried to keep it in big chunks, and there were a few different sized unions that really helped clue us in. But, what you're seeing doesn't include the auto water change system that we haven't installed (partially due to where the tank is located in the garage.) You should have seen the looks on our neighbors faces when I was walking down the side walk to my garage with about 30+ feet of tangled 2" pvc pip draped around me only to be followed by my husband doing the same and rolling a giant filter along. It never dawned on me before, but I need to start cataloging the looks I get from my neighbors. :)

I know. He did a great job! There are unions everywhere which allowed us to take this apart and reassemble it with little modification. I think we've added a couple more and had to replace only one small section of pipe in all that.

As for the feeding video, I will need my busy husband to video while I feed. I can't do both if you want to actually see the initial chaos and a lot of the food being eaten. By the time I get off the ladder, a lot of the food will have already disappeared!

 Thank you, but "Grow[n] up"? Not so sure I've quite made it there myself yet. hehehe

The growth rate on my ID wasn't tremendous like my other catfish, but still at a good clip. He went from 8 inches to 16 in about nine months. I've NEVER seen him eat though. Who knows what he's eating. We'll see what happens with this other one.

As for how I ended up with this tank... I'm not a girl that asks for jewelry, shoes, etc. I've had the same car since I was 16, so my car is 12 years old (though fortunately in very good condition). This tank was my birthday present, our anniversary present, something we had saved for, and we got it all used. Also, I had been watching for about a year before I found something I wanted to buy. I would say we live fairly practically in ever aspect of our life except fish keeping. :)

I absolutly love how you took the time to explain the plumbing with those "post it" noites lol! Being on this side of that tank makes it hard to tell what is what directionally, thank you for doing that!

Yeah, it looks complicated and overwhelming if you just quickly look at it, but the moment you understand how the filters work it makes perfect sense. From a picture its even worse since you can't follow it around as it goes. Glad the arrows helped!
