600 gals....that an mini ocean!!!!

LOL. It seems giant until you put those 9 fish in there, the tank looks full, and you know that they haven't even gotten close to their adult size! Already looking at our situation for upgrading since I know how long it can take to get it actually done. I figure I have a little over a year, and then they will probably need to be moved. :)

Cats are geetn huge! Looks like most are 3ft+. I cant get enough of that gold knife....im still looking for one:)

They're not 3 feet by any means yet. The big TSN though I think is about 27". They've definitely grown in the little time that they've been in there. Can't believe I can now go through 2 cups of food and more than a 1/2 lb of shrimp in one meal for 9 fish. I could probably throw in more, but don't want anyone to puke. 50% water changes on a 600 gallon tank to eliminate vomit really sucks!

Edit: Quick update. The new ID shark is doing great. He is mowing down food like crazy and already starting to fill out. Hopefully his head will fill out and his poor little eyes won't be so sunken. If he isn't totally screwed up internally from his previous owners/tank/diet/etc., I would suspect he will grow nicely. Also, he is probably the friendliest ID I've ever been around. He comes to the front of the tank where you are standing only leaving when he gets pushed out of the way by the bigger guys. The two ID's seem to be enjoying having their own species as company for the first time since they were tiny victims of Petco/Petsmart.

Wow. Just got through reading this entire thread...amazing. Beautiful fish and it's great that you and your husband can enjoy this hobby together, what a beautiful thing! Definitely get a feeding vid up! Pretty please. :D

Biggest problem with having a married couple involved in a single hobby is there no one to say, "No! That's too much money!" hehehe. No, we generally are really careful and stay within a budget. It just works nicely that a lot more goes into that budget since were both putting our 'play money' into it. We justify it as pooling our resources! ;)

Edit: As for the feeding video. I think they need to fast at least till tomorrow night. After introducing the new ID shark, I've been loading them up pretty good to make sure they leave him alone till everyone gets used to him as a tankmate. I'll see how their bellies look tomorrow evening and see if I should feed.

excellent. hope their will be more livestock additions and pictures!

There will probably be only one more addition while these guys are in this tank - a large arowana. I do not want to stock this too much more as the bioload with this group of cats is large the number of fish in the tank. Also, I need there to be room in there as these guys are still growing rapidly- almost an inch a month still and packing on weight. I need this tank to last these guys about a year. :)

In a year you're making the pilgrimage to bring that tank to pennsylvania right?

In a little more than a year, I hope to have these guys in a pond and my fire eels, 16-17" royal pleco, my flagtails, dats, etc. in the 600 gallon!
