You wish! I've been all over Mexico, Alaska, central and southern CA., and the Central and South Pacific fishing and I've NEVER broken a quality rod rail fishing or otherwise. I do know what I'm talking about! :raspberry

And Lamiglass :screwy: rods aren't even close to what I would consider a quality rod!
who are you to call lamiglass rods not quality they make some of the best salmon/steelhead rods on the market. I myself am a Gloomis fan but St. Croix also makes very good rods. Even a good rod can have a defect and nothing puts it to the test like a grouper. Now the fact that the anglers rod had black foam handles makes me think its not the top of the line but I am sure it still cost a pretty penny.

As for the vid vary funny, the angler was vary unprepared and needed a fighting belt and I hope he didnt lift the grouper out of the water.

Most salt water rods are made with foam due to the salt content of the water.

Really any rod when put under that kind of strain and misuse will snap. you notice it snapped right where he had it on the rail. That caused the strain of the fish and him pulling on that one spot. What he did was pretty much equal to dropping a cinder block on its edge onto the rod. And i dont think most if any rods will survive that kinda abuse.

Well, and the force that is put on them, cork/other wood doesn't really put up to the strain of large fish running and jerking down, heck even largemouths/salmon have broken parts of cork on my lighter rods/friends lighter rods.
