640gal for 1000 bucks?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just wondering, money talks!

Id jump all over that... you can bring that tank to look fantastic within a few hours of work.. most of it looks like it can be wiped off anyway. You can also redo the edges with a torch to give them a flame polished edge again.

Severely abused tank and a crappy footprint. As tall as it is, you're going to have a b**** of a job getting it clear again. You're going to have to polish it inside and out. Not an easy task by any stretch of the imagination and especially not in that tall tank with limited access. Not worth $1000 in my opinion. If it was a short, wide tank, absolutely, but it's not.

Be prepared for many hours sitting inside that tank. I hope you can fit through the openings in the top.

Broken please dont take this offensive but you couldnt even tell if that was acrylic or glass. Not to question your fish care, but even if you could clean it and make it prestentable could you even take care of it? Once again please dont take this the wrong way , but not knowing acrylic from glass gave me the thought of enlightening you of the work that tank would be. Not to mention the cost of filtration , heating , cost of uhual , lights, food , fish to stock that beast, and doing massive water changes. If you can do all of that then i dont see why you wouldnt jump on it.

Oooops i was on my girlfriends acc , sorry that was me that wrote that :banhim:

Taking care of the fish is not the problem, i have been doing it for ten years. But with the aquarium hobby not being that popular around here i havent seen that many tanks but m own glass ones.

And dont worry about offending me, i wanted to know you guys and gals opinion both bad and good so i can make a good decision. So dont be affraid to tell me that its a bad decision.

He mentioned he has never seen acrylic

If he has the money, why not. You learn as you go.

My thought is this - If you are going to buy something, buy the best there is.

To Broken - If you have the money, time and dedication i say go for it. You do realize this will be a hell of a job to fix it up but if done properly, the cost will go up. For example, i bought a leaking 110 gallon with stand and fixed it up and it it is worth LOT more now.

Buffing scratches out of a tank that size is going to take you a long time. Be prepared to spend 40+ hours working on it (depending on whether or not you are doing all 4 sides, inside and out). Even with a buffer, it took me 40 hours to do my 240G (But I have OCD and rfused to stop until it looked almost brand new). If you have the time, I'd say it's worth it. Jump on it.
