640gal for 1000 bucks?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah that's a good deal! Only 1000 dollars for a 640 gallon tank?!?! If it holds water and the only things wrong with it are its a little dirty and has some chipping in the corners that's not bad at all. As long as you have the money and you're willing to put in the effort I say go for it. I mean seriously how many 500+ gallon tanks have you ever found that were $1000 dollars or less?

i would say no. That depth will kill you maintenance wise, and that tank needs a lot of work. seeing where the panes meet at the corners, I would be worried if the tank could survive being moved again without busting a seem. If you do get it, talk him down. there are tons of amazing tanks not selling because of the economy, so this is a time you can be picky.

Call Laird, ACI, and Nationwide plastics and price out the acrylic to build the same tank. Then swap out the front with the top and make it a good footprint tank. www.garf.org has instructions on building an acrylic tank. I would imagine you could build a new tank for $1000 or less.

IMO yeah. Acrylic is very expensive, and even if you have to put in a few hours to get it clear again,a 640 for a grand is a steal.

I can get acrylic for cheaper then glass. Id go for it. Let us know if you bring it home.

It is alot of work and I would rather Cry Once and Buy Once. I like my toys to feel and look new. @ that price I understand its a deal but I myself would pass on that.

Or like others have sugguested, get him to lower the price for u.

Bomber.

for what its worth, a new tenecor tank that size will cost you well over $7k
