65g stocking ideas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Honestly, I didn't do enough research on them to offer you that kind of advice. However, I'm sure they're predatory and they have big mouths. So I think fish like neons are out of the question.

Which is why you don't JUST put the betta in it.. You build it around the betta. :D Get some bloodfin and lemon tetras, maybe some rasboras, a few cory cats... You could make a betta very happy.. :D
Now that I think about it, the betta wouldn't like that tank. It used to be a lobster tank, so it has built in filtration, and the flow rate is very high. I believe each output has a flow of about 1300gph. I liked the idea, and I hate that it wouldn't work.

65G is too small for discus long term. It would be good for a pair but not a group.

For that size, I would probably do some sajicas... they have the monster cichlid look in a smaller package.

Not even a group of 3-4?

I'll talk to my Dad about that. I get the feeling he's going to call it an excuse to upgrade the betta.

You can't alter the filtration? My 2ft holds 120ltrs and the filter does 1200ltrs/hr which is 10x turnover, my hubby put a spray bar on it and Bruce was fine in it?

And don't tell him about the betta, tell him you want to turn it into a low light planted tank, then buy little tetras and corys for it, then be all like "hey dad, I'm going to move my betta to the planted tank because it needs more colour" or whatever it takes. :D

The lobster tanks come with filtration built in. It already has an overflow, sump, plumbing, and a pump. To alter it would be to throw all of that out.

So no adding a spray bar? :(

No. It wouldn't fit one. The jets are like the ones found in all-in-one reef ready aquariums below. The only difference is that the jets on my tank have about 6 ball hinges rather than 1 so they're easier to position.

Ahh yep. Then I semi retract my suggestion, and change it to "low light planted tank without the betta" :D
