alright. so i just got my glass and sand, but they didn't carry pool sand so i got silica sand 20 grade. is that ok?

i am going to cut holes in it for the filter to go in. and will i need a heater too? or can that just be put in my filter? because i was told by someone that the heater can actually be put into the filter so it won't be seen in the tank. is this true?

here is the silica sand i bought today, but i'm not sure if it is ok to use?:

i'm using silica sand with no problems. it wasn't think kind but I don't see why this wouldn't work, just wash it first.
