OH OK... then nonononono... there is definetly no space for a heater in the filter, the baskets take up all of the inside room. These filters are(suposidly) hardenough to seal without poking holes in the housing...(not that i have ever had a problem but others have)

i love my XP3 to bits, but if you want a heater you can buy a inline housing for them...

also the bottom leaves room for little fishies to swim around in the dark that get sucked up.(happens all the time)

the only little fishies i have are guppie fry, but by feb. 25 (i promised my grandma i wouldn't add any fish until my b-day) i'm sure they will be big enough to not get sucked up. plus i have a fry breeder too, so that won't be too much of a problem.

what is inline housing and how much does it cost?

this is 100 lbs of silica sand:

i had massive doubts about 100lbs of sand being enough to fill up half that amount! but i think it looks much more natural than if i had gotten gravel, but it was a pain in the @$$ to clean and get it in the tank without spilling it all over my house. :mad2: if all goes well it will be up and running by the end of this weekend (but chances are it won't seeing as how much trouble i've had so far getting all this done). . . but since there is no school on monday i'll have an extra day to work on it! (how long should i wait (keep in mind i haven't a testing kit and cannot afford one right now) before i add guppy fry to the tank?) i promised my grandma that i wouldn't add any fish until 2/25 (my b-day) since she bought me the tank, but i still think that i should add some of my guppy fry to the tank to moniter how they will do in the tank. . . right?
