75 gallon help!!!

I stand corrected. I rechecked my source, I was confusing the three rock bass subspecies with warmouths and shadow basses.

Easily done, in many areas of the country people don't know the difference and will call them both "stumpnockers or Goggleye" like they do here in the Ozarks.

Sounds like you had a jaguar / dovii hybrid there. The most relentlessly aggressive fish out there. Never plan on keeping a jag or a dovii let alone a hybrid unless theyre alone ;) They will hunt down and kill everything no matter how big your tank is lol. Yeah that just confirms my suspicions about mixing CA/SA cichlids with sunfish. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go all natives ^.^ They have just swept me off of my feet!
Alright now Doc ;) no dithers then. Which is A-OK by me. (Waste of $$$ in my opinion). What about overstocking. If I'm running two 2217 Eheim Canister filters on 3 subspecies of longears, shadow bass, warmouth, and I'm gonna be looking for 2 snail or spotted bullheads. Is that too much??? I will be doing 25% changes twice a week :)

Lol, so does that mean this is a "housecall" :D? The two Eheims should be plenty of filtration, and driftwood and plants not only make the tank look cool but help give the fish their own little areas; how many fish do you want to stock altogether? Are you looking to stock all in pairs or singularly, and one last question before I pull out the stethoscope, what is the ratio on sexes your going to stock in the tank?

Males are the most colorful doc :P I am very scared to put in any females because if they were to mate and have fry, I would have a bloodbath on my hands. So I'm looking at 4 sunfish, shadow bass, and (2?) bullheads. 7 total.

I am not sure on the dimensions of your tank, but if the tank is long enough and you put in your Driftwood, and some hardy plants, and maybe some rocks, even though theyre all male it should work. Im glad your going male and female on the Bullheads :) as those are hard to find in the trade and it would be neat to get fry from them, which could happen if you give them a pvc pipe cave to reside in. Heres a video of Centrarchids mixed sunnie tank which he has had for years http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xD3_zL8GnoU

Hey i've got a 72gallon bowfront. It has 2 juvenile yellow perch (about3-4") 3 Pumpkinseeds (varius sizes from 4" to 6") a black crappie (5") a juvenile rock bass and 7 fathead minnows. The tank is fully planted and lots of driftwood for territory. My fish are mostly passive except the rockbass. He can get very aggressive but the fish are too passive so they dont cause any fights though. He is very small and as he gets larger i'm expecting more fighting until i get a larger tank. Expect some fighting with these little rockbass.

Thanks Owain4 for the advice :) I'll keep an eye on my future little guy.
Doc, I plan on keeping anubias nana stuck to the driftwood. That's it. As for the measurements, it's a 72g bowfront like owain4's ;) so Im guessing about four feet long. I do actually have a rock cave that I will be setting up that is too short for the sunfish to get into but just tall enough to house the catfish ^.^ And like I said before, 3 large pieces of driftwood that will span all 4 feet of the tank. It's kinda gonna be like an african cichlid setup just with driftwood spanning the tank instead of stone holes in it.

Good idea on the catfish home :) , has your driftwood had all the tannins leeched out? Driftwood is cool looking and fish love it, but too much can cause algae blooms and if it isn't "cured" yet can kill your fish.

Boiling the driftwood as I type :) I move into my apartment out of the dorms in May so they will soak until then :) No tannins at all. Going to put the big piece of wood in the dishwasher too. :) two runs in there should do it :)
