75 Gallon Stocking Ideas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What about a smaller species of Birchir, Black Ghost Knife fish and maybe a Oscar? Lots of people say this will overstock it and that a 75 is the very minimum for a BGKF.
Complete Overstock, in my opinion oscars and BGK should get bigger tanks than a 75.

I've seen some massive oscars and know that black ghost knives get big as well, so I'm ganna shy away from them. Don't want anything to be cramped

Are there any websites that regularly sell Polli's? Been looking around and not finding any. What is their typical price point?

The Wet Spot has some WC 6-8" ones right now for $45.

I got mine from them but she's captive bred and IMO the WC ones look much nicer. Less of that CB Poly beer gut. That being said, I love the personality of mine so I don't want to diss her too much. ;)

A 4 inch would be safer.... depends on the fish. I would say it's not super likely but it's not impossible to have a problem either. My Dehezi was around 9 inches when I introduced a 3 inch Teug and she was fine, but she's not a very predatory fish. I don't want to say it will be fine and have your fish get eaten. ;)

Do you have a quarantine tank to grow the Senegal out in for a little bit?

If you were to order from the wet spot you could also ask them to give you their smallest Polli....

I could always keep the senegal in the sump to grow out was planning on using it primarily for biological filtration. I'm really excited to get this tank going! I'm assuming WetSpot is a pretty reliable retailer? Just nervous since the shipping would be cross country (I'm currently in Pennsylvania).

Is pool filter sand an appropriate substrate? If not what would you recommend?

Wet spot rocks. They're my local store but they're fantastic and their shipping has a 99.9% live rate I just found out.

Sand is great for polys.

Excited for you!

Please post in the Poly sub forum when you get them, or now if you have any other Qs.

The poly family on MFK is a great group of people. Very knowledgeable and supportive. We are always happy to have new members joining the addiction. ;)
