I would wait for someone who has kept oscars and bichirs together to chime in.

Why not do a bichir only tank. Very cool looking. Maybe a delhezi, senegal, and retropinnis

Reason why i wouldnt is because i have a pearsei (very oscar like in terms of growth and appetite ) in a 150 with a couple of bichirs and it can be difficult to get food down to the bichirs.

O's can get over 12 inches and real chunky i wouldnt put anything else in the 75 with one

Can you, or should you that is a better question. Os, devils, JD, and many other will fill a 75 with ease. I think a 75 is the most versatile tank out there, but not a good home for multible large fish long term.

1 oscar will be very rewarding alone, personally im a fan of red oscars!-)

The struggle is indeed real =P I find there's 2 types of people. Those who love oscars and revolve their tanks around them, and those who prefer other fish. I know that sounds vague but it's to almost an extrem. Personally I'm the latter but if you really like oscars I'd say go for it. Personally I love my JD and EBJD and would rather have them than an Oscar (I have a thing for iridescents).

I think the point we are trying to get across is a 75 is a cool tank but should only house the o by itself.

Unless you are very lucky, I would not try and keep most of the fish listed in a 75. As far as I know, Ebjd are hard to keep by themselves, and should have their own tank. Anything with terror in the name should be avoided in a community set up. I have had a Jack, pair that has done alright in a 75, but the pleco was not so lucky. An oscar can do ok, with some non competitive fish, but I would only keep cichlid in . I you opt for something else, then it needs to be smaller and non aggressive.

Hard to keep by themselves so they should have their own tank? I'm guessing there's a typo in there. And I have to disagree. While it may not always work out as fish are all individuals I have JD and EBJD with other fish in one tank. And my GT was fine with other cichlids.

He has over 2k gals of fish tanks. If im correct dont you have a choc, ebjd, jd, and something else in a 55 ?

Just use the search bar and see how many threads come up on how sensitive ebjds can be. Im not doubting yours maybe he has great genes but we cannot generalize a fish because of one when the majority are somewhat sensitive

Would call that short of an attack... I have 3 cichlids in a 55 and 2 more in a 37 growing out and I was clear that each fish is an individual. I don't know why you felt I was trying to attack robham's credibility, was simply stating that, in my experience and those who have kept more than I have (compared to his "as far as I know"), EBJD can be quite hardy and get a bad wrap. Was in no way saying he's wrong, just simply that based on my experience I have to disagree.
