Thanks. Actually I lost one Odoe pike to my Lince cat and one Vittatus ATF to my Chinese perch. I don't know how they got them down because both fish that were eaten were pretty big. So now, I really watch what size fish I introduce. Basically like you said, they have to be the same size or larger.
The gars get along with everyone else and no one bothers them. They are bigger then they look. The spotted is about 13" and the longnose is about 14".
Yeah becomes so hard once they get large, and here in Aus its risky to introduce new fish because you pay an arm and a leg for a exotic/pred.
I only ask because i recently tried to introduce a clown knife into my tank that is nearly the same size as my cichla and as soon as it tried to swim off the cichla took a snap at its head and released it so i had to move it....lucky it survived.
