After re-reading that, obviously anywere else is not fine. I meant anywhere in relation to the 4x4's since they are load bearing. Anywhere above or below them is fine. If dissassembling the stand looks like an option, ya may as well just trim half an inch off the back legs.
chomps,you didnt like my 2x4 wedge idea?lol

and blown i/we replied about the styro on the last page.lol

...and chomps,
he shouldnt worry about the bottom piece of plywood floating after adding the trim under the stand?
im pretty sure the w/d will be ontop of it and im sure his w/d isnt small.lol
thats what i would worry about after the styro.

Oh, yes...thanks for the correction. The wet/dry should also be thought of as a wet sump in terms of weight because it will hold the surge volume when the tank is shut down. Two or more wedges can be cut to support the plywood.

The formula for a triangle is:
c^2 = a^2 + b^2
where c is the hypotenuse (the longest edge, and not adjacent to the 90* angle).

The height of an interior wedge can be calculated by using:
a(1)/a(2) = b(1)/b(2)
with the bottom lengths measured from the angle opposite the 1/2 inch end.

Today I'm not reading everything before posting. I have other distractions going on :( I wasn't following this thread but xxblwn408 asked me to look at his last pictures. I just skipped to that and replied in reguards to his pm.

A big thanks for assuring me that my idea would be okay. I will be going to home depot on the way home. I will also cut some wedges for the ply.

Thanks Chompers, and everyone for the nice comments.:headbang2

lol. I missed that...
I have not put foam under any of my tanks (600 & 300) and have not have had any issues. I am just following the manufacturers advice.

good luck :)

the no styro is scary tho.
you really think that stand is that flat?
i would think they might recommend no styro if its there stand only?
but i would think if its not there stand it might be a different story.
"not saying anything about your work" but
i dont think any homemade stand is flat enough for a tank that big.
600 and 300 no styro also?now 750 none?
your way more brave then me.lol :D
i have styro under every tank,i even put styro under a 5g,why not,cant hurt.lol

ok im sure you will do how you want,it was your 7 g's lol
so i will stop talking about it.

I am not worried about it. There are a lot of things in life that won't hurt but should you do them just cause everyone else is...
