75g tank stand.

Rtc/tsn Rtc/tsn , how are you planning on stocking the 75G tank?

Canisters are good filters in my opinion but they do need to be regularly cleaned and that depends on the stocking level, food fed, etc. They are a bit more complicated for some people to assemble, prime and maintain because there are usually more parts than a power filter (HOB).

Also, if you plan on putting another tank below the 75G tank, the canister filter will need to be set on the floor next to the stand.

I think you would be better served using an Aquaclear (Fluval) 110 power filter (HOB) and could always add a 2nd AC 110 or a smaller canister in the future if needed or your stocking plan changes.

Also, the 75G trim may be too wide to fit a smaller AC model filter and will probably be the same for smaller Tetra or Top Fin HOB's.

The 75 will be an upgrade for my flowerhorn

I have a FH and a spotted Raphael with some snails. The 307 says up to 70g and the tank isn’t heavily stocked at all so I feel like it would be fine but that’s why I’m asking so I can get some opinions and thank you for the feedback.

your tank has a lot of inhabitants. You’re only looking at their current size and not the full potential. Spend the money now to get the bigger filter rather than upgrade the filter later. For canisters with cichlids that get past 6”, you always get the canister rated for twice your tank size. So get the canister rated for at least 140g. Or 2 AC 110 since you have a tendency to feed quite a bit.

So 2 AC 110’s? If I reduce to once or twice a week feedings could I do with only one AC 110 because I don’t think I have enough spots to plug in 2 of them unless I buy a big power strip or something

you will eventually need a second one, but you’ll be fine with one for now if you replace the carbon with another coarse sponge. You have time to save up for a power strip and a 2nd one.

you should put your old 55g filters on the 75g new tank

So I’ll get an AC 110 tomorrow along with the 75 and gravel and anything else I need for the time being and once I have a decent amount in my bank account then I’ll buy a large power strip and another AC 110. Does this sound good? Thank you for all the help everyone
