I got a 50gal bow front from "Marineland" and it has that same sticker on the underside of the bottom, on top of the centerbrace.
It designates the "bottom", so I'm assuming the sides are OK to drill...I like to run my canister hoses to bulkheads, it's alot cleaner, than anything over the top edge...
As soon as I get a couple more bulkheads I'ma try it...
Any updates? Be sure to get pics while doing the canopy! And what kind of screws did you use for the stand? Just wondering what you used to connect the framing 2x4s, I figure finishing nails should do the trick for adding the sides
so far... ive uhhh.... looked at it... noticed that the wood is finally drying out (i got the cheap stuff cuz im a bad person).. ive had the tank on the stand with some water in it to keep the stand level while it dried out... however lastnight (after the socal meet) i figured i should check on the stand since i came home with 2 pbass and an aro (woohoo thanks oddballer)... it was then that i noticed the stand had finally dried out...
but yeah... the stand is suffering from some ...... shrinkage... so now two of the cross braces are a bit lose which i am not happy about... so when i pick up my plywood ill pick up some longer screws so insted of going at an angle with the screws im going to go straight through the 4x4s.. so far ive used 3" wood screws.. ill see what i can find for longer screws..
for the plywood i was going to use some 2" wood screws.. i figure i might as well make it structural..
i should get the stand finnished this week.. i just started at a new company and had to switch from a work truck to a work van.. its great for the work i do (heating and air) but it stinks for haulin around personal stuff.. not that i use my work truck for personal use cuz that would be wrong
ill be sure to get more pics as i go..
ok plywood got picked up today... and work was easy so im going to go work on the stand for a while.. ill post pics of whatever i do..
i think i need to rearange the house... i need to think about where i want all these tanks cuz i really dont want to have to move them once they are set up
i spent hours on it yesterday.... i dunno what i did.. but i was out there for hours... i managed to cut a piece for the top and part of the back.... and thats all i did.... so nothing worth taking pics of...

i put the tank on the stand and filled it just to see if it would fall over or not... its been up overnight.. so far so good... one side is about 3/4 of an inch higher than the other... its my patio not the stand... ill score some foam this week and get the stand finnished... i need to do some work on the floor before i can bring this badboy in the house.. i know it will hold.. but i dont want it to bend or bounce... which also means i need to move the 10g invert tank and the 30g gsp tank as well as the massive chest of drwars they sit on... and i need to move a bookshelf... .. ... gah...
