3 of these in a 600G?

Are you thinking that maybe if you place some anacharis in there to break their line of vision, you could control aggression? You might actually be on to something...:grinno:

Even if they are stunted to the point that they only reach 25% the size of this one, that would still not work...not even if you were running asm129's sump!

You thought I forgot about you, huh? Still waiting for that picher of your sump!

That is not a Bumble bee grouper all be it a grouper and a 70 pound bumble bee no problem I am going to make a thread right now Let's do this!!!!:naughty::naughty:

I think a possibility positive thread that we could all have benefited from and learned something has been ruined. I for one don't know much about sumps but would love to learn as I plan a large tank in the near future. This could have been an ideal thread to brainstorm and share ideas but instead has degenerated into another MFK pissing match on who is the coolest kid on the block. Personal insults have no place here and if you can't say something positive walk away.
Let's all just learn to get along.

it could be done by stunting the fish into deformity, cruel in my opinion when there are plenty of cool fish that would live happily in that tank instead
I beg to differ i started a filtration thread stop by and discuss???

Don't worry, I'll be looking for input on the design for my sump for a moderately-stocked 450g in the near future, plenty of opportunity for brainstorming without getting into the ethics of fishkeeping [so long as no one tells me I need to fill my tank full of huge fish, or at least have the filtration to do so even though I have no intention to do so].

As for the bumblebee grouper vs 600g tank debate, the fact that this species has the potential to grow to over two metres in length should tell anyone with half a clue that it is not an aquarium fish, unless you have a public-aquarium-sized salt water aquarium. In reality, a huge slow growing fish like this should probably out-live most of the people partaking in this arguement. A 600g tank would barely make a suitable sump for a fish like this. If it dies before out-growing your 600g tank you have failed to raise it IMO...

Yes it is Hulon.

The giant grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus), also known as the brindlebass, brown spotted cod, or bumblebee grouper and as the Queensland grouper in Australia, is the largest bony fish found in coral reefs, and the aquatic emblem of Queensland, Australia. It is found from near the surface to depths of 100 m (330 ft) at reefs throughout the Indo-Pacific region, with the exception of the Persian Gulf. It also enters estuaries.[2] It reaches up to 2.7 m (8 ft 10 in) in length and 400 kg (880 lb) in weight;[2] there are unconfirmed reports of it growing much bigger, up to 1320 pounds. Giant groupers feed on a variety of marine life, including small sharks and juvenile sea turtles. Due to overfishing, this species has declined drastically in many regions, and it is now considered Vulnerable by the IUCN.[1]

should've just put 10 fx5s on it and been the mfk king.

Would've avoided all this harassment.

Not enough bio. Need more bio. Did I mention you would need more bio? :nilly:

ASM, where's the pic of your sump?

Nice philosophy. At least you are having fun, right? Doing this to an animal does not make you a tough guy. Thinking this is animal cruelty does not make me a wimp.
