it's cool bro...your comment is natural....like what other is saying it's hard to tell. time will tellsabotage;2484565; said:NICE, but Not to be rude by I dont see anything more then a mono......no spangling or anything like that....

I for one still believe that one of my Kelberi's differs from the other two. Could presumably not even be a Kelberi?
yeah ur right J...I really need to measure...them...and see...they are starting to color up...I will take a newer pictures...but you right I seen different types of kelberi...just because it does not have the coloring like scat's...this does not confirm that is not a kelberiR1_Ridah;2485862; said:From my understanding a couple of the Kelberi's I have did not start spangling until it reached a bigger size. Like 9-10" or so. Specially around the anal fin & pecs.
Not so say that Milokai's measurement is not on point, but sometimes when people eyeball measure out the tank it's normally smaller. Best way to truly get an accurate measurment is next to a ruler. Perhaps it's just smaller and hasn't started the spangling.

If Milokai's pbass does end up to be Kelberi than I think it will look like one of mines. My suggestion would be to accuratly measure it. It's small enough, fish it out and get an accurate measurment. Then start your log.

Kelberi are a smaller Cichla species maxing out at 14"-16". They should color up at a much smaller size than monos, orinos or tems.
I recall Seiichi saying that despite recent Cichla descriptions stating only kelberi show spotting in the fins, he has seen monos with fin spotting albeit not as heavy as exhibited by kelberi. There's a possibility that despite the spots and different look that they are simply an exceptional mono race. There's also a possibility that they are a natural hybrid of mono x kelberi thereby exhibiting traits carried by both species. It may be a new, not as of yet, described specie.
If you refer back to my kelberi progression thread you'll see that even at 4"-6" mine were looking quite different than Molokai's fish at 7".

I also refer back to the difficulties I have experienced in trying to get mine on anything besides live food. I'm amazed that some of you have your kelberi eating everything and anything and how easy it was to accomplish.
Lastly, my kelberi are decidely NOT aggressive yet I've seen several people here mention how theirs are top dog. Again, totally the opposite of my experiince.
I'm not trying to thow gas on a fire but simply making an observation based on what I've dealt with vs. what others are seeing. I guess time will tell. This could get interesting...
