woo pictures!!!
How does the heating hold up? Really curious to how much of a difference the insulation makes.

Good job BOTR. Looks awesome. I'm thinking of doing something similar and was wondering if it could work with the 2x4s standing on the 2" edge rather than laying flat.

If you were going to do somthing like this I would suggest just framing it out as you would an exterior wall. This way you could insulate inside the frame work. Just stacking them the way you are asking would not create a very sound structure.

Trust me, insulation makes all the difference in the world. I rarely see the heater come on at all, and I am rock steady at 79f. I could crank this up much higher if needed, and have no real worries about heat loss. I would NEVER reccomend an indoor pond of any significant size be left un-insulated.

Nice. Could this be done with a side viewing glass?

Sure could, and something I did consider. I may do this in the future with another pond. I had only 2 reasons for not adding a viewing window.

1) The height of the pond would put the viewing window too low to the ground to be of any real use. You would basicaly have to be on the floor, unless I put the ond on a raised platform...... Turning it into just another DIY tank.

2) Glass is a HORRIBLE insulator.

This man speaks the truth...with that footprint and NO insulation?
just to keep the water close to 79f, would be like setting your money on fire.

hey chris i think you shold maybe put that power strip somewhere else man becouse you never know what could happen and i love that pond im gonna copy-cat you when move out west are you upset that you cant see yourfish for the side (like a tank) or is the view exceptable
