I'm looking into building a monster tank myself. After thorough research on this site and others I found no successful plywood tanks that were deeper than 3’ (top to bottom). All of them leak. I think it’s more to do with the flexing of the wood at a different rate than the water proofing material. I’m very interested in this build. I love the look of deep tanks and I hope you cracked the code on this one!
How thick is the plywood? How far apart are the studs supporting the plywood?

Rhanks so much for the thread... I am also building a 700 gallon but was afraid of leaking... What size wood did you use???

Wood is 3/4" with 2x8 framing 12" on center. Lots of Simpson connectors for supports. Liquid nails join plywood and joints are m1 before coating. All seams have 100% support on vertical and horizontal sides.

I couldn't go wider due to space limitations. I was also trying to make the tank out of solid sheets. I can't think of another way to do this stronger.
I personally think most failures are from flexing and inadequate support. Lack of proper transition details may also contribute.

The window will only be 36". I'm going with glass. The sumps calculate up to 75 gallons with 30 of flood storage. I also have a static tank of 25 gallons to plumb in.
