the front baffle could be made of egg crate if you wanted but the rear baffle should be a baffle, this will force the water to rise inside the chamber where your plants are. if the rear baffle was simply egg crate the water would flow right into the next chamber without covering your plants, however the area you do have the plants actually planted in, ie. where your soil or whatever is, should have plexiglass on either side to prevent the soil from being washed away and into other chamber clogging them or breaking your pumps. personally however i think the plexiglass would look nicer. other than what i suggested in my previous post i think your sump looks great. like i said the plexi glass IMO looks better and if the sump is going to be on display as you said you want it to look as nice as possible.

see the baffle at the end of your moving media chamber? the once helping to support the blue screen lid?
that should go from the top of your sump down to about an inch above the floor of the sump.
that way the water will have to flow through your moving media chamber.
the way you have it now, the chamber will fill up with water and the media will move yes, but once the chamber is filled with water most of it will simply flow accross the top and into your plant chamber without eve rhaving gone through your moving media chamber.
in addition you might want to watch using plexiglass, i tried making a tank of plexi and a buncha people on here warned me that plexi and silicone wont bond and the tank will just fall apart. you could get glass panels and a glass cutting kit from home depot and do it that way, the glass cutting kit is very cheap like 5 bucks at home depot.

How much is the plexi going to run you? Just for the sump?

WELL AS PROMISED I WENT OUT AND BOUGHT THE PLEXI TODAY TO BUILD THE SUMP !!!!!! ITS 41" X 60" X 3/8 THICK
