9/11 Do you remember where you were when this tragedy hit?

I had just rolled into work at one of the biggest dealerships in north Iowa (Toyato/Dodge) and everything was typical. I was working away trying to finish up a vehicle and the service manager came out into the shop and got us together. We sat in the lobby/waiting area watching the news is complete disbelief.

The dealership was open all day but it was dead quiet most of the day and hardly any work was done. Remeber it very well.

Got home from work and waited inline for gas. Waited 20 minutes and went in and got a sixer. Was almost done with it by the time I got to the pump. Filled up the car and 2 cans.

1st day disbelief. 2nd day anger.

thx. I for one knew of a few who perished, not close friends or colleagues but people who I met in business. still has an effect. I can not ever imagine the grief & suffering then & thru the years others have suffered. My cousin witnessed the jumpers. That was so painful for him.

We can forgive but we can't ever ever forget!
the thing that breaks my heart the most.. is that they were innocent everyday people ... just going to work... nothing to do with anything but making a living... just like all of us.... to suffer like this can never be forgotton....my husband and i celebrated our first year of marrige with a beautiful dinner at the windows of the world restaurant on the top floor of the tower..... i remember it was one of those most outstanding places to visit.. even the elevator ride was exciting... you could feel the slight sway of the building because of the wind.. not such a great memory for us now..

wow .......... how close...

Latin class in high school. Our teacher was CRAZY catholic so we watched as the second plane hit then she had us all pray.

Now I'm not a religous person by any means but that time it was deserved.

I was in court with my now husband in Philadelphia. The whole city shut down, and we were evacuated.

I remember from time to time the towers would sway back and forth ( i was in the 52 floor of tower #1 the 2nd one to get hit) and it was the most terrifying day of my life I was on a phone call the only one in the office and this time it did not feel like wind it shook the whole building , and imagine the other building was hit firs and it did not throw me on the ground but about 3 big pieces of glass shattered and that terrified me to death. The phones went dead for about 2 minutes and everyone was scared... about 10 minutes later the loud speakers came on and we were told to stay in the building. Me and some guy said hell nah we left down the stairs, the elevators were jam packed.. it took us 15 minutes to walk down the stairs and in like 3 minutes of walking the building shook again but this time we thought it was coming down... Everyone in the stairways were screaming and a couple people crying because the impact of the plane hitting the building was felt (we did not know it was a plane yet) I was 17 at that time and I was doing my internship that day (3 days a week until 1 then school until 4) and i will never forget that day. sometimes i think what if i had stayed in the building.. what would have happenned to me.. actually i was more worried about my sister who worked in the 2nd tower (first to get hit) 32nd floor i could not find her but she walked to queens to my uncles house I also sometimes wonder what happened to some of the people who i used to see in the elevator who worked in the upper levels

Sorry about the rambling but its just my story of how i will remember september 11

good thinking on heading out. you were you interning for?

they actually still have ownership of the buildings even after the sale, kind of like a lease. I saw that Silverstein is sueing the airlines which I thought was terribly disappointing.
