I would just change the 'N' shaped driftwood in lieu of something more natural

The driftwood is out of there now. I replaced it with some rocks. I believe it was one of those rocks he headbutted the other day and cut his hump.

Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately, El Duce isn't doing too well. He hasn't been eating right for over a week. His color is good and he is active. He gets a 20% water change every other week. The water parameters are fine. I am not sure what is going on with him.
