With them being around the 2-3in mark they should be starting to color up a bit and show their sex. I have found the easiest way to visually sex them is to look for the "spangling/peppering" in the males fins (dorsal, anal and caudal). Females will be absent of these markings. As for their growth, I'd say they are average growers. Mine really seemed to slow down quite a bit once they reached the 4-5in mark.
Stocking wise, I'd personally stick with a 1M/3F ratio. I like to keep my stocking a bit on the lighter side though. You could potentially get away with a 2/4 ratio but you could have your hands full with two pairs spawning simultaneously. Are you planning on keeping anything else in this setup?
