The C arrangement would definatly need to have reinforced poured slab as well as drain and water supply plumbing however when you concider the added cost over a single unit against what you would end up with it's VERY low compared with a site built unit.

That is of course the main comparison bieng made on a project of this magnitude.

Anyone expieranced with foam and cement rock work on a large scale? I've seen it used on 'natural' looking swiming pools before.

I agree that using this method of construction has a lot of benefits over a built in place structure. I know that a lot of places in california have undesireable geological characteristics and was simply making an effort to bring that to your attention as well as your readers.

I wish you the best of luck with this project and look forward to seeing your vision become reality

what a cool idea,i'll haveto file that one for later use!

Not a problem....like i said this is all bieng talked about now so that I don't run into huge problems down the line....lol Thanks

I seriously doubt that anyone living in a normal tract home is going to want to have a 20 or 40 foot long metal aquarium in the back yard in any case so the zoning issues are far less importiant to those people who would actully want to have one of these units.

hate to burst your bubble dude but already working on the wife .... Thinking about leaving the doors as they are and welding a bulk head just a sofas width inside and having a single window in that.....

a bit like that!

Shes gonna make me put a roof on it so it looks like a shed, fake wood beams and paint it white and it'll match the house!!!

Providing you place the 3ft high windows in the middle of the container, how high are the containers? 8-10ft? If 10ft for example, how would you see the bottom and top dwellers? Unless you viewed from above.

When its done can i dive in it? ill be able to take pics of the bottom and the far corners.

Haha, That'd be rad. If I was Johnptc I would dive with my Pimas all the time and take pics of them. So awesome.

The containers are 8.5 feet tall with a depth of 8 feet. no real problem watching either top dwellers or bottom dwellers.

8.5 is nice then. Thats only 2.75ft till bottom and top. So I spose you just lean your face towards the acrylic and look down or up.
Supose this does go into plan, what stocking would you like? Much the same as johnptc's?

Not really no. Niether my wife nor myself have any intrest at all in Pima's They would most likely end up bieng huge comunities filled with my big cats and of course my wifes Pbass when they outgrow the big indoor tanks. BUT...never say never....fish happen...and all of that stuff...LOL
