hmm just found i can get a 6" Astatheros Robertsoni for 50, and then a 5.5" Chanco for like 28 from jeffs, so that meets the minimum fish order and the perfect number of fish i can fit in my Pond. So do you think i should try that it would be pretty cool with those both large sweet fish

Just to let you know, Jeff Rapp's stock of A. Chanchos are all females. From what I've seen both M/F look the same, not sure if females get 16-17 inches.

i don't know if his current stock is all females, but i bought mine earier this month, and got both a male and a female, so he definetly had males.

Well, I ordered through him and asked specifically for a male Chancho in July, as did my friend. We both ended up with females?????(they were sexed by John @ Mainly Cichlids) My friend then called and he stated that he hasn't had males for the past 3 months this was begining of September.

hmmmmm. well that's fishy, i'll have to check out if i have a male. Thanks for the heads up.

If you read his price list description it doesn't say anything about being males or even it being sexed, which he usually does especially when its 4.5 inches plus. The description on his price list about the Chancho has been the same for about 4 to 5 months now, from what I remember. However both m/f look exactly the same when growing not sure if the females will grow 17" though?

I didn't make a big deal out of this because I just got a 12" male Umbee, so the Chancho had to go asap.
