Herrghh?? Really? And, the LFS sold it as a hybrid? There are two batch imported here, the former batch (my one) looks more like congicus, and the later batch looks closer to endlicheri. However, none of them look exactly like a congicus. I don't know what's going on there, the things are getting harder when there started cross breeding.

As for feeding feeders, yes, the type of food do affect the growth rate, that's why I said "maybe".

i see...
the lfs sold it as p.e.congicus.
the ones down here seem to look more like congicus and none of them look short body like yours.

LOL, I mistook your meaning. I thought you said the LFS sold it as hybrid and it grew out to be a pure congicus.

This pcs looks like short body, probably it's due to the wide and high body (especially near the 1st spine of the dorsal fins). It looks short but actual it's big.

12'' ? my 12'' congicus looks much bigger than yours, bro... maybe because of the external gills? the gills r really gorgeous, haha

no no.
they were sold as hyrbrids.
but at 2 inches they looked almost like yours.
from the side pics the head looks a lil big for the body.

So the external gills gone yet? I must say i was totally taken back cos i have never seen bichir with external gills. Looks awesome, though with the gills gone it becomes a very nice bichir from extraordinary (love the finnage on that guy!)

I think it's because this one has a big head (not a normal ratio with the total length) that makes it looks so.:naughty:

Yup, the external gills are still there, and may be those will last one or two more months.:headbang2 Well, that is probably because those bichirs came to your area probably are wild caught, and it's difficult to keep the external gills during their natural life/get caught/shipping process. I didn't see such well kept external gills few years ago untill they started importing the farm bred ones.

those look exactly the same as yours when it was small.
but my friend sent me a pic of one at 8 inches and it looks exactly like a real congicus.
