can someone clarify?

Formalin and salt do not mix, and this combination will make your fish even sicker than they were before. This is often true for other anti-parasite meds, so always research before mixing anything in the water. it forms a white precopate. This is Paraformaldehyde and will kill fish. If you notice a white film or any white color in the tank at all, do a **** load of wc.

I've heard it before the claim goes something like the salt strips the slime coat and then formalin will burn the gill filaments. I've used salt at 1 tbs per 5 gal with quick cure at the recommended dose many times with zero issues as have others. Maybe at high salt dip concentrations you may have issues but falls into the category of common sense

care to back this up with chemistry especially at fish tank concentrations? yes paraformaldehyde can ppt out of any formalin solution especially at colder temps and maybe you can salt it out but not at the concentrations you would use in a fish tank. Like I said I've use them both on my discus many times and others have too.
