  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
get some better pics. Lots of rtc have those white spots

Seriously...I don't want to be rude but you need to return that RTC to the fish store if they will take it back and start with some corys or mabye syn. cats which you can actually provide a home for and keep in your tank for life (or close to it).

Its really obvious your a beginner and a young kid and I certainly don't want to discourage you from getting into this hobby, but you really need to start with beginner fish and do a lot more research before you attempt to keep a large catfish.

We've all gone through this phase, so don't feel bad...when I was starting in the hobby I tried to stuff a silver aro in a 55. But c'mon man be honest with yourself...you are completely and totally unprepared to care for this animal. Start with some easier fish my friend.

Im going to have to agree with most of the people here you should return the RTC and try your hand at raphael catfish they are pretty good as a starter catfish pretty easy maintinence

Looks lyk he jst got burnt by the heater...raise the temp n add salt n get a heater gard...

its not as simple as just adding salt and upping the water temp. the salt effects the respiratory system of the catfish and the salt further hinders respiration by lowering the oxygen levels of the water.

fw catfish + salt = dead catfish (or really unhappy catfish)

Salt treatments should only be done for NO more than a few days to a week then large w/c need to be done to remove the salinity of the water .If not it will cause the fish's liver and bladder functions to shut down and he will deteriorate to his eventual death.Get a cat that is more forgiving and smaller and go from their.I would hate to see somone fail at this hobby and ultimately quit due to lack of knowledge.
