Absolutely, totally agree with you there CC.
On one of the links , the thai forum ... The posts and dates are from 2009 ... Pics of the same fish...

They look like the Indos being touted as ST here in Bangkok. Normal indo 150 baht. Indo being soldf as ST 500Baht. I'll be honest though i can't tell em apart at times.

Thanks funwow. ST stripe, IT tail pattern. Body shape too small to comment at moment. They really look like ST though. I m not saying they are not baby ST, just very unlikely.
I wanna see the fish in the guys home tank...waiting for those pics from the OP.

^ If he's Cambodian in his terms he's making a lot of money unfortunately.
I must admit I’m skeptical but I’m not disregarding this as nonsense. I would expect they’ll end up in Chatuchack (jj) market here in Bangkok if they’re still out there in any numbers. I went yesterday after reading this and spoke to the guy who always has NTTs in great numbers; he gets them from the Mekong at Nakorn Pratom on the border of Laos. He said “never seen them”. There is quite a lot of border between Cambodia and Thailand, so if there is money to be made they’ll be here soon.
A few vendors had small fish exactly like the pictures on the linked web site, they were selling them as STs, but under questioning admitted they were indo but they were adamant they were exactly like STs and were willing to argue.

My own thoughts, not long ago and Indonesian poster told us all of how many indos had been caught while I was trying to follow up rumors of farm bred here. He said there were too many and the middle man couldn’t sell them. Based on what I saw yesterday I think the high quality 3 bar indos have been separated and are now being touted as STs, there were quite a few. I also find it strange how T1K has documented slight differences in ST and CT but the image here shows none. In addition on a very old thread started by a Thai guy about STs and captive breeding, he also wrote there were differences. He wasn’t lying about anything IMHO, apart from fish being bred in captivity, they’re not, but I believe they’re close. He wrote the research facility in Bungborapetch was using some CT for attempted breeding purposes, but not for release in the wild. I also think is a strange coincidence there was another thread made by someone claiming to have baby STs caught in northern Vietnam on the border of Thailand, when it’s not even a bordering country. As T1k pointed out the pictures have now been removed. I understand now why everyone was asking me for Photos, I now want to see them. I hope it is ST, I really do. But after chasing ghosts here I’m skeptical.

STs are the holy grail of the Dat world. I bet there **** load of em in Elvis’s pond, and him and Bruce Lee love nothing more than fishing them out with a few beers! LOL

this is one of the points i mentioned to Ade on the phone yesterday :D

millions and millions of IT have been fished out of them millions it should be easy to find 100 IT that look like ST

all of the pictures you have posted have IT tail stripes i have never seen a IT with ST tail stripes if you can post a picture of the small tigers with ALL the ST traits out of that 100 small tigers you should have more than 70% with ST tail stripes as its harder to find a ST with IT tail stripes than one with ST tail stripes

it should also be 100% stable even at this small size all of the pics you have posted also have the normal IT un stableness

even if you look at the last pics posted the middle bar doesnt sweep back smooth it starts off thick then goes bang small they are IT in my eyes and i wouldnt buy them but thats just me

if someone thinks they are ST then thats all that counts as long as you dont pay crazy money for them and at $100 i think thats good for a 3 bar IT of this grade

can you tell me how much you got that siamese tigerfish please

it says at the start of the thread $100

its best to read the whole thread :D

i have looked at the link you posted again and i stand corrected the 1st picture does look like ST tail stripes on one side but it has IT middle bar looks like IT

i would expect after all the IT that had been fished that 1 IT with ST tail would come up but all the others have IT tail stripes and very weak middle bar

i to have a tiger that looks close to ST with near ST tail stripes and i don't have the pick of millions :D

IMG_0285.jpg

just because you find one IT with ST tail stripes don't try to convince us that you have found the holy grail

what i have also found is that when tigers are put into a bag or netted they become more stable is this why all the pics shown are the tiger in hand and once released they turn just as un stable as any other IT

Everything most of us dat guys have said are really good points. This is what makes a thread interesting in my eyes. All we can do is hope they are. Wish i could be a fly on the wall at the suppliers place...lol

I agree with you FunWow, it is interesting and if it were for real it would be fantastic. But if a person knows they're really ITs and is saying they're caught out of rivers in Cambodia and Vietnam it's tantamount to trolling.
I'm not saying the OP is by the way because i know it's the vendors here in Bangkok who are trying to pull the wool over buyers eyes. I have a feeling there are several Veitnamese posters who have bought these fish in good faith for an inflated price.
