again a valid idea except it does not fit the vision of what we are doing here. to do so would very much limit the ability to represent the diversity of what will be when I am done :naughty:

The whole idea of dropping all the under 140g tanks and putting in bigger ones is to create a panorama that encompasses the e s and w walls of the restaurant

it should look like this when a person comes in the door immediately to the right 180g, 180g then on south wall 230g, 168g 45g sumped sw, 180g 35g sumped fw, on the west wall 300g, 150g, 180g and 140g

solid plans are for the 300g to be the pacu cat tank, one of the 180g to be a front colony, the 150g will most prolly be a home for the johani , one of the other tanks will be purely for my bleekeri madagascar tank, will also have plans to do a killer flitter tank

I also have 2 knife fish at home, 2 ripsaw cats and 2 dwarf snakehead i am bringing here so have to figure a tank for them

That is a really fantastic place you've set up there, hope all goes well for you.
I think the odd tanks are better than having them all uniform. It makes it look more homely rather than just like an aquarium. People will be able to tell that the fish are there because you enjoy them and not just to provide decoration.

Good luck mate!

all the tanks should sit at the same height and should have black back grounds with similar color natural decorations. you dont want it to look tacky.

if I was going for more of a corporate franchise look versus a on campus homey look that would be the route to go for sure

in the 7 months since I started to plant the tanks here there has not been one person yet who thought it looked tacky, on the contrary everyone is blown away by the tanks and to busy seeing fish they have never seen to worry about the difference in set ups

also if i was doing this with new tanks it would definitely be more planned on my part, but, every one of these tanks is used and so I am making it look like a college dorm room would if a fish lover lived there

please watch this build as it progresses would like to hear your thoughts when its all done :naughty:

its not our tank why do you care what we think is in it?????????????:screwy:

well back at you :screwy:

if you dont care then dont read the thread :nutkick:
I BELIEVE THE TITLE IS A LOOK AT MY WORLD :nutkick:

personally I do care what other people keep in their tanks as that is the fantastic part of being on a forum like mfk, one gets the distinct pleasure of inside views to others fish passion

have a great day mr poopy pants :screwy:

ok so got the tank filled and seeded with media squeezing from my existing tanks, and the bacteria active substrate and the live rena xp4 filter that came with the tank, went out an got another xp4 so the tank should be good to go for filtration

I did a triple dose treatment of seachem prime to handle any water spikes that might happen from the 5 days the media and filter was out of action and added clarity to deal with any suspended particulate

DSC07109.jpg

added three pieces of wood so far got one really nice big one

DSC07104.jpg

just took a quick shot of my pacu and iri sharks for reference to who is goin in

there is one thing that I did that some people might not agree with but I will say anyways. I have this problem red zebra kenyi adult male that is such a bad a s s no matter where I put him he just does not behave. So over the weekend he was at it again beat 2 of my juvi green terror to a pulp over the weekend so much so that they went beserk when I dropped them into the 180g to get them away from the kenyi and his buddy.

so as I was putting the finishing touches on the 300g to get it ready to sit and clear up I decided enough is enough after watching the gt try to go after my biggest zilli tilapia and watching the kenyi chase after another fish I netted the four of them and tossed them into the newly filled 300g LETS CALL IT A FISH CYCLE THEN

so residents of the 300g are 2 juvi green terror, adult male red zebra and juvi red zebra until the time comes to populate the tank with the real residents

Man I really gotta make it my new number 1 policy to clean my glass after working on my tanks im gonna get known as the king of waterspots

So last night I went and picked up the rest of the wood that I had ordered for my tanks 2 pieces for the 300g

DSC07127.jpg

DSC07129.jpg

and also picked up 2 pieces for the 140g for what it will become when I move out the catfish

DSC07135.jpg

did a last minute check on the fish to see if agression had ceased and they were peacable

DSC07112.jpg

checked the tank this morning to see how the filters had come along in clearing the clarity treatment

DSC07141.jpg

now that the filters have done most of the work needed to clear the water time to add in my filters 2 submersible 300w, will also be adding a powerhead on the one side

boy i meant to say heaters

well waterchange 1 done 30% out with a retreatment of prime and 3 degree higher water in to counter the room temperature of the water.

I dont know the names of all the fish I have going in so I will take pics of them as I put them in thus far 2 juvi green terror, 2 red zebra kenyi, my smaller pacu (ron) and this fish behind the zebra
DSC05946.jpg

there will be a variety of catfish , my other pacu (rhonda) and my 2 ripsaw cats from home

EDIT:after lookin at this post i felt to say I been working on these tanks for the past 8 hours and will WIPE THEM DOWN IN THE MORNING its 2 am and i am sacked out tired, as well, I will be touching up the metal stands and painting the backs of the tanks black later

Well so far 2 of the tanks are done here to reflect the new look to the way they will be done here when we are finished.

The 300g is now populated with its residents, though if need be I will pull the juvi green terror an the kenyi and surrender them to the lfs or try to offer them to someone else for free so as to rehome them, there is one other fish that a friend asked me to rehome who was moved from the 180g to the 300g a jack daniel who if he causes issues will also be given to the pet store

other than those here are the residents of the 300g for reference the styro is 20 inches wide

DSC07160.jpg

a variety of cats i been raising if anyone wishes I did take a pic of each one as I put them in the tank can post if wanted

DSC07181.jpg

this is seconds before the worst part of my night, trying to net an move rhonda for reference that net is about a foot across, I would really hate to have to try to move a full grown pacu

DSC07192.jpg

DSC07193.jpg

my 168g tall drilled sw tank is in the way so I cant get a full tank shot

I decided to leave my 140g where it is with the bleekeri and 3 frontosa and a couple of geo, I left the 2 striped raphael cats in there because the sort of match the 2 ripsaw cats i added

DSC07153.jpg

DSC07154.jpg

bowl circumference is 14 inch inside rim

couple of tank shots of how 140 is now

DSC07187.jpg

DSC07195.jpg

my existing 180g I have decided will be a absolute focus home for the zilli tilapia that I have in it right now, did a minor rescape of it so it looks like this now

DSC07188.jpg

DSC07191.jpg

well its friday time so the weekend is here, hope my glass guy makes it here tomorrow with my toppers and to brace the 150g cause then I can get to setting up my frontosa colony

DSC07234.jpg

DSC07236.jpg

the order of the day here is to finish the clean of the 150g paint the back black wash the substrate and get it set up should be a fast flip since I will be using the decor and filter from the 75g the fronts are in to add to the rena 3 that will be new

as well I am going to trim out the stands so as to make them look better
