A personable cichlid for my 75 gallon tank.

It all comes down to your definition of personable fish. If you are looking for a beast that will interact with you by banging the glass, you have to select aggressive species. If you are looking for fish that will come in front of the glass to beg for food, then any big appetite fish including goldfish will do

GT is not piscivorous and should be fine with danios if you let them grow up together.

i would love to do a single giant tank banger but worried anything like that may eat the danios. I chose the sev because I know they won't eat the danios. If you know of any that wouldn't eat them that have all those characteristics please tell me. I will be getting whatever cichlid(s) I decide on small so they will be raised together.

That wouldnt be single then would it??? You are not getting the single fish ideas people are giving you. That means no other fish nada no danios or catfish or pleco. If you want to keep those bottom feeders like you said then no single personal or aggressive fish. No amphs (hogs red devil) , no terrors, no parschromis they will most likely tear everything up eventually as they get pretty big. I see you lied on the final stock thread but not really a point to 3 different threads maybe just bump one ? You still have lots but you should stick to the original plan people said over and over that that's probably the best everything else is just complicating it especially since you don't actually research the fish that people are giving you as an idea and the stock is just going down hill.

so then I could do a GT? If i do could I have ANY other cichlids in with it, it will only be in there for 1.5 or 2 years. Then I am getting a 150+ gallon tank that it would go in.

I suppose I gave a poor example of what I mean by personable. My chocolate and sevs will chase my finger around the tank. They do come greet me (beg) when I come near the tank, but they don't do it for anyone else. I personally would consider that very personable since they recognize me.

But I agree that some of the most aggressive cichlids make the best wet pets. :)

well I share that definition as well, as long as the fish recognizes me I view it a personable. So after all this I think I will be doing the severum and tbar for sure, I was just skeptical about the firemouth since the can be skittish.

My Firemouth recognizes me as do all my fish

Well let's just forget the whole idea of amphs if anybody was still thinking of a combo with one of them for me. And even though it took about 3 threads for me to make my final decision, everybody has really helped me. I will be ordering the fish in the next day or two from my LFS and talked to them tonight to see what they could get me. That really narrowed it down (unfortunately). although I want you guys to vote on your favorite option (they're aren't a whole ton and everybody's opinion is valuable). And no I am not going to make another thread or change my mind after this since once I order the fish, I am COMMITTED to them. So through reading all the posts on this thread and researching bio loads as well as compatibility, these are my options:

1:

firemouth X1
T Bar/Sajica X1
green severum X1
giant danios X6
rainbow shark X1
striped raphael catfish X1
four line pimelodus X1
sailfin pleco X1 (2 years)

2:

chocolate cichlid X1
giant danios X1
rainbow shark X1
striped raphael catfish X1
four line pimelodus X1
sailfin pleco. X1 (2 years)
if any more room (which there probably isn't) 1 more smaller cichlid (5-7in.)
if you guys chose this and think I can add 1 more please specify (at least a similar species genus)

3:

suggest something for me! It just has to be South American or Central American cichlids that are compatible with the giant danios, rainbow shark, striped raphael catfish, and the sailfin pleco.

Again ordering them tomorrow so don't expect me to change my mind AGAIN (since I know it was annoying a few if you. I can't blame you either).
