A riddle for the Geophagus lovers

GT3000, I don't know about others' thoughts, but I have only been considering whether cross fertilizations physically work, and then I have heard of instances where mistaken notions happened- not deliberate deception.
:-)
This is a curious example & leads to interesting possible scenarios.

any Israeli soldier is a hero to me :-)

that sounds plausible. I wonder if people will try to attempt this on purpose. although it seems like eartheater keepers generally think more like purists.

Yeah I'm sure people try it on purpose lol. I don't mind hybrids, I actually find it interesting. I don't really understand why people are so against hybrids when it happens in the wild but I'm not about to start another debate lol. :)

Speak for yourself...
The fish were kept in a tank about 300 liter.
There was 2 Tapajos and 2 Brachybranchus.
Now, I know for a fact that the Brachybranchus were a couple that stopped workink for some reason, and my friend left the male Tapajos with the female Brachybranchus.

I agree with you that you're being skeptical, me too, but 3 things:
1. I have better things to do with my life then to lie to you all.
2. I never saw anything like this before, thats why I started this thread.
3. My friend don't have pics or video, but I choose to believe him. He wont bull**** me coz he does'nt sell them, he was surprised too.

So it was just the male tapajos and female brachy in there when they spawned?

I think it's better that I'll wait for my friend to speak here.
I don't have all the answers, and I can only confuse you all.

But anyway, untill then - It's a beautiful Geo! :headbang2

I'd guess the reason it doesn't usually happen in mixed tanks is because there is enough of the same species to form pairs, but perhaps a single male of species A and a single female of species B would quite happily get it on if there are none of their own kind to do it with.

Despite what my conscience says about hybrids and all the associated problems it is a lovely looking fish! Fingers crossed he hasn't started a trend though...

It certainly has a lot of characteristics of those two species..... although I am skeptical anything is possible! Magnificent fish in any event.
