Abei on the way!

Awesome. Yea I googled that stuff and it looks like a real winning tool. Gonna grab some while im out tomorrow. If I added that, and left the tetras in, would enough good bacteria form to support both?

One last question. For my filter I am running a Fluval 305 and when I clean it I normally just rinse the sponges real good until the water coming out is clear and clean, and then I leave alone the other side where the carbon and bio balls are. Should I rinse that section or only rinse the sponge to keep whatever good bacteria is on all of that?
 
I'd rinse them on alternate times. Replace the carbon with filter floss to "polish" the water.

Add the Safestart directly to the filter, right before adding the puffer. I'd do a 50% WC 1st.
 
So remove the black bags of carbon and leave in the bioballs? Whats the filter floss do and where can I find that. Thanks again for your help your definitely teaching me quite a bit and vastly improving my puffers life. Ill be getting new tomorrow about when he will be making his trip here.
 
I use pillow stuffing from a sewing supply store. You can get a huge bag for cheap.
 
And just rinse that off and then shove it in the areas where the carbon bags would normally sit? I would imagine that would almost act as a second set of sponges and collect other things. Do you replace it often, rinse it out, or what? It just helps keep the water clearer? No need for the carbon Im guessing then?
 
Big bummer just now. Got a call from the fish store saying that the Abei had died. Funny how it bummed me out and all I had is a few pics of the little guy. He looked awesome and lively in his pics. RIP little guy.

Now Im back at square one yet again, trying to find a fish. I really like the Abei they have grown on me quite a bit with there nice markings and active personality. Havent been able to find one yet though anywhere else. All I can find is little Fahakas, Palembangs, and Baileyis.
 
They can't order another one? Have you checked on Aquabid?

They arent sure if they will get another or not they have to check with their supplier next monday but like I said the guy seemed unsure. I checked aquabid and they have a Baileyi, some GSP, fahaka, Figure 8s, and a Palembang. No Abei.

I emailed AnubiasDesign since his orders go out tomorrow and he has puffers on the list, same things, no Abei, but waiting to here back if he can get one.

The Baileyi, hairy puffer, seems pretty cool too. Hed look like a rock in my tank with my white sand haha. They seem sort of mixed in personality though. Some lazy, others active.

Ha, Yea I have gathered that. Jeez I was so stoked to get this little guy in. Guess I just gotta sit and wait and hope one pops up somewhere. Its crazy that I live in San Diego with all these fish stores all over and nobody has fresh water puffers. Guess their isnt a huge market for them.
