Abei on the way!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
shame to hear your order passed away before you managed to get it, although i guess at the same time its better it died now than when it was in your tank for less than a week...

Yea I was thinking the same thing. I have the pics of the little guy and like I said he looked plump and happy buzzing around the tank so its weird he died. I think they sold him, cuz I called back and a different person answered and was reading to list and was like oh nevermind we actually sold the Abei and I just didnt say anything. They called it a leopard puffer though, and he was like yea our last leopard just sold. Whatever. I got in touch with Anubias Design and he has one coming in for me on Sunday so hopefully his shipment looks good.

Id be afraid to get an order in and then it just die within the week. That would really suck. Im still going for the Abei though. I was thinking about a small group of Salivators because that other shop had some. In my 60 gallons I think 1 male and 3 female could work if I planted it like crazy and made some good hiding places. Abei is still my pick though so we will see what Anubias Design can do for me. All his feedback in the vendor section looked good. Fingers crossed.

^ best of luck with your 2nd Abei order... otherwise the Salivators may work... although i've read they seem to be quite an aggressive species compared to some of the others their size???

Yea thats why I am really leaning towards just a single puffer in my tank. I read that the Salivators dont mind small groups as long as there is only one mail but its pretty much hit or miss and you never know if hes gonna just turn and kill everything, which in that case would leave me with one big open tank with a little puffer swimming in a huge space. Thats why I like the idea of the Abei. Wont have to worry about him killing tank mates since he wont have any, and he will get to almost 6 inches from what I have seen which makes for a nice single species tank and a real beautiful fish with plenty of room to itself.

FINALLY! Got one tracked down thanks to a fellow MFK member. Shipping out in a few hours overnight and will be here tomorrow. I have some big krill and some live ghostshrimp to feed and Ill probably hit the store today for some frozen shrimp, clams, or bloodworms for some feeding choices.

neat! make sure to post some pics!

Oh I definitely will do! Its amazing to me that I searched every fish store in San Diego, and only found green spotted puffers. Thats it. Its crazy that there isnt any awesome fish places around here. Some nice places for salt water though.

And on the green spotted puffer note, I stopped at walmart for some other things and decided to walk by the fish area. Tanks were FOUL and they had about 10 GSP in a little tank, all looked immaceated and torn up and there were two dead left in the tank. Sad. Made me wanna buy and rescue them all if I could. Pretty upsetting.

Well if you were to buy them, they would get replaced with double that amount. but lets not get into the whole Wal-Mart thing again lol
