acting stupid at lfs?

Theres a big salt LFS near me that only highers highschool girls with big breasts. The good ones say,"I dunno, leeme find out." The dumb ones say,"Sure, he's yellow and goes great with blue fish!"

man if only i lived near you...i would def have a salt water tank, or atleast say i did lol

I work in a LFS and stupid questions get stupid answers....Can't I keep piranha with my oscars?...Sure do whatever you want it's your tank and your money.

They're not stupid questions if they don't know the answer. It's ashame that these people care enough to ask and they are not getting good answers. All that does is hurt the hobby especially when soo many don't care enough to ask or ignore the answer when given.

I've played dumb in the past with a new LFS just to see how knowledgeable and trustworthy the people there truly were.

I'll tell you this, as I'm sure many have already said, it's the best way to make sure you're getting what you pay for.

I just cut to the conclusion of a lot of conversations I've had. You tell people that one fish is not compatible with another and they just sit there and try to argue with you why it will work in their tank and how their friend did this and that.
Example: Guy want to mix gold fish with tropical fish. I told him that it not recommended because a gold fish is a cold water fish and all the others are tropical. I then attempted to explain that they have different water requirements and so forth. He keeps telling me it'll work because it's just one gold fish. So I tell him to do what he want it his money and we don't have any guarantee on livestock.

I'd say that a greater percentage of people that come it to LFSs don't know their as$ from their ear. They don't want to do any research for themselves and expect the employee to educate them. It's ok to ask questions but I don't feel asking questions that someone may have a predetermined answer to. Then when the person doesn't get the answer they wanted to hear they want to catch an attitude and tell me why it will work. Don't ask me if you already know the answer!
I can tell stories of as$hole customers all day.....So next time any of you want to go into a LFS and act STUPID think of all the REAL UNEDUCATED people that an employee of that store has to deal with and don't be mad if you get dirty looks and STUPID ANSWERS.

i can gauge this by how much of a bad person you think i am. or you could read what ive said, and not base your opinions about me from what other people took as their opinion of this thread.

people have different opinions about things. and hey if you want to think im a bad person or a douche because i try to find out if a lfs is reputable or not, go right ahead. but take into account the dozens of other people who posted here saying that theyve done the same, i guess they fall in the same basket then?

You really hit the nail on the head here. It seems many of the people that have nothing better to do then act stupid at an LFS, have no idea what it's like to work at an LFS. I've worked at 3, and easily 2/3 of the customers that come in are some of the most ignorant people on the planet - that more times than not, need me to dumb down basic information to an elementary level. Even then, they usually don't care enough to understand it.

All the people who like "Act a fool" at the LFS, are also the same people who throw temper tantrums when an employee gives misleading information. So next time, how about trying to educate and correct that employee if they're blindly giving out misleading information - instead of messing with them. They may completely disregard what you have to say, but at least you can say you tried.

Seems there are alot of people who responded to this thread that don't need to "act"

I guess it's up to them to figure out if they feel offended or not.

Personally the LFS is the last place I would look to find info. Not that the employees aren't knowledgable, it just I wan't to be informed before I buy.
