Added another wild pleco

As much as I hate having invasive tropical fish in our local bodies of water, it is kinda cool to catch/see stuff unexpectedly.

Anyways, here is the little one. It had a growth spurt but slowed down. I think I need to pick up some veggies on the way home.

The big one isn't so big compared to the crayfish that a month ago could have fit inside of a quarter.

Both plecos are on the right, the little one traded it's spots for stripes.

Wow this is really cool. I like this thread. Throw a couple nice species in the river come back in a year or two and sell all that off spring. j/k
 
You think they could live in central Florida? My friend keeps telling me this guy was throwing a castnet into a pond which I know is illegal. But its really a wierd river/nature park And they say they are catching plecos but everytime I go with they seem to catch none.

Easily, especially if it is spring fed.

I laugh when I see posts about how temperature intolerant these fish are. My big pleco (from a pet store) has been as low as 50F and as high as 100F water temp. The low was very temporary but it still put up a fight when I caught it out. I have only seen them die in the wild when shallow, small rivers get the February flood and they get flushed out with 40F water. The summertime 90F+ water temps don't seem to kill them off.

They are amazing fish.

They aren't doing as well since the crayfish got big but they still seem to have normal appetites and habits. I think the crayfish keeps trying to eat the little pleco. When I move again in a few weeks they will either each have their own tank or at least have more space.

As for central florida, I'm sure there are some. It sounds like you guys have every other ex-pet living there. Look for flowing water city park near a college or urban area.
 
Update, well this spring has been crazy on weather. I broke down my indoor aquarium because it was in a bad location and the fish were moved and incorporated via pump and over flow into my bait tank.
