Adjustment period? (new L264)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm really surprised (and quite happy) with how active the L14 is. Its spent as much time on the gravel as it has on the glass. It thinks its an algae eater! I put in protein based pellets/fresh zuchini/market shrimp and it ignores it, and spends its time "cleaning" the glass :D I didn't even expect an L200 to be this active.

The L114 is a hider like my L264, I've seen it a few times since adding it (bet this will change once it finds the best spots).

The LSN is about 5" maybe (including tail). It was barely MAYBE 4" when I got it in mid-March (tail included, and it has an elongated tail). Big enough to make me nervous. I saw the L14 move into the LSN's corner where it sleeps / hangs verticle during the day, and the LSN seemed to be sizing it up and slowly creeping toward it as if it were prey, but it would dart away before it ever got close enough to strike. So yeah, just something else to stress about, haha.

I took this pics shortly after adding them to the tank (within first 10-30 minutes I'd guess).

Well they made it through the night :headbang2

I think the L14 is too smart/quick (and hopefully slightly too big) to be eaten by the LSN.

The L14 is my new favorite fish in the tank :D Never expected it to be so active. Hopefully its not just a phase haha.

Found a new feature on my camera...stitch assist! 5 pics merged into 1 for full tank view :D

Got bored so decided to 'map out' what seems to be their territories. The L14 has spent most of today in the back left corner near the plants scavenging. The L264 spends all day everyday behind the driftwood in the middle territory, and when lights go out moves to the red rock tunnel. I have not once seen it leave these 2 areas to explore the rest of the tank. The L114 set-up shop under the base of the piece of driftwood overhanging the rock tunnel on the far right.

Hopefully they'll keep their territories spaced away from each other like this...

edit: Well that pic doesn't show up nearly as big on here as it does my PC...oh well. You get the idea.

I noticed the L114 out of its hiding spot and the L14 was near so I grabbed the camera to record any aggression/etc. They don't seem to mind each other much...

My heart definately skipped a beat while recording this. Turns out I was wrong...the L14 IS dumb enough to get eaten, but it seems its JUST large enough to stay off the menu for now. I hope it thickens out quickly...

Man I dont know partner. Understand I know nothing about LSN's but I do know plecos grow pretty darn slow. This may be bad news in the long run. Man, I knew you had that cat in there and did'nt even think about that when we were discussing adding the plecos. We got so wrapped up in the plecos that I did'nt think about that. Wow I feel like an ass. I apologize if this becomes an issue. I guess I might put that video up in the catfish forum and see what they think. I know nothing about there growth rate, habits toward tankmates, etc. How big are the two newest compared to the L-264?
