1,350 gph.

somone correct me if i am wrong , though thats the flow for pvc for 1.5 inch i dont see it being different for draining bulk heads either. How many drainage holes do you have? just one? I would buy the pump a little lower gph than your overflow. Just because your overflow has bio media in it , it could slow down the process. maybe 100 gph lower than your overflow.

no i have dual overflows. how do you do the math to figure that out?

i have them memorized lol.

Your looking at 2,640 gph. Give or take a 100 due to your bio balls and bio bale in the overflow.

Pump size i would go for 2,600. If the pump is to strong you could always add some length on the hose so it doesnt pump so fast. You just need to make sure your pump isnt to strong for your overflow , but is just strong enough to be the most effective it can be.

ok, the actual cutout is 2.5 in and the pipe inside is 1.5 so is a 4x turnover rate ok?

Hm , your going to need to talk to a better number cruncher than me.... Though i would recomend putting an fx5 on there anyways. I always run a sump and a canister , it just makes sense. There is a pipe inside though? how far up does it run? If it sticks up to far it will make your bio balls submerged and ruin their function drasticly. Any way you could shave it down or take it out? Then you could probly drain the full 2.5. You dont want your bio balls under water , if the pipe inside runs higher than the bioballs it makes the bioballs useless. :(

Though if you took it out having two 2.5 drains would be awsome , but the pump to work that would cost a crap load. If you dont mind me asking , how are you money wise? That would be something i would consider pulling out those tubes. I couldnt afford the pump so i would try to shave them , and also make sure they are sound proof. I know overflows make a LOUD gurgling sound , so ill pull up an easy device that you can make to silence the sound.

Does your pipe inside look kind of like this one?

Heres the link to silence over flows.

The one in the picture will silence as well , but as you see the pipe is to long. It raises the water level killed the water fall effect , but your bio media will do that for you. Having a pipe that tall will make all your bio underwater.

from what i can tell the pipe doesn't extend very far up only a couple inches, so im not to sure its function in there.
