@hao- haha.. When you feed them enough to past the day do you put pellets into the tank too?
Yes, I do, if you got no one to compete pelelts with it then drop 1-2 pellet in a day too see if they try to chew it. ;) If they try to chew and spit it out then its working. :D

My African Arowanas doesn't starve itself, they eat alot! Most African Arowanas are peaceful, I have mines with some larger Aros. It's better to introduce the African Arowana later, if you want an Arowana Community, since African Arowanas can be territorial. ;) They are quite stubborn fish too, if they find a target to pick on, they won't stop harrassing it until its dead.

I think the biggest thing with baby african aros is making sure they have food available to them pretty much all the time until they put on quite a bit of size. Filter-feeder refers to that fact that they suck in water and filter out small food particles, most filter-feeders tend to feed most of the day.

You have to have a constant food supply for Afros less than 8" a sponge over the intake is great also a sponge filter as well lots of WC and my Afros favorite is Daphnia My Mantra has been.

3"-6" (sponge filter) feed two cube of frozen food 4 times a day. everyother day 50% WC temp 84*

6"-12" Always have a sponge filter or a sponge over the filter intake, feed 3 cubes of frozen twice a day continue 50% every two days and do Haos method to get onto pellets....

Minimum size tank is 180gal and IMO it won't like your Silver....IME they EAT ALOT I go through 1 flat pack of Hikari frozen a week and mine is ~12" once on pellets I can imagine I'll go through food stick bags a month so, if you can afford $12 a week(giving them a variety of frozen foods), the time to do lots of WC and feedings per day and have the space for a 180gal AND a 265gal(because of your Silver JIC) go ahead

I agree with the sponge, it's useful, I have that under my powerheads. ;)

What kind of sponge? I've tried sponge last time to clear my tank more but then some pieces of it clogged my powerhead...

I read this on Aquatic Predators:
"When live blackworms are not available, frozen bloodworms, zooplankton and brine shrimp are acceptable substitutes."

So this is saying frozen bloodworms and zoo plankton(daphnia?) can be fed as a staple?

You'll want a variety I've got a pack of Brine/Sprinula Dapnia and bloodworms (as mine won't eat Mysis or Krill) and mix those up throughout the day. and by Sponge we mean a sponge filter or a prefilter sponge that slips over the intake. Honestly the most important things when keeping an Afro are:

1: Nearly 24/7 food supply until they reach 8" (but still large 2-4xfeedings are nessicary(sp))
2: A large variety of small planktonic foods (whether it be daphnia brine blackworms bloodworms sprinula krill or guppy/livebearer fry)
3: Pristine water keeping Nitrates below 20ppm and 82-84*F
4: (going with #3) Large Water Changes

Yeah I know they're talking about sponge over the intake but then it will get clogged easily are you guys talking about a specific sponge? A sponge filter I doubt will be enough filtration for my future 6'x4'x3' tank...

1)What if you're on vacation? Will they starve to death?
2)I can supply frozen bloodoworms, guppy fry, and daphnia.. I'll try to look for more.. Will frozen Adult Brine Sshrimp work?
3)Have to get a test kit for this... I live in a tropical country 82-84F shouldnt be a problem
4)Ok
