African cichlids in Hawaii

Check out the hole in the wall pet shops too. Plenty there. Make sure you check out jojo @ aquascapes in pearlridge
 
I've seen a select few hotel ponds/reservoir stocked with Cichlids usually accidently, typically stocked with koi. I do know of a few streams with established Kenyis, convict, Nicaragua, jag and red devil populations on Oahu. Not to mention Corydora, Clarias, plecs, snakehead, FW needlefish, misgurnus, ocellaris, neocaridina the list grows every year unfortunately.

Hawaii do not have any fully freshwater fish species, and the invasive species barely pose a threat to the endemic gobies/sleepers, mainly because of the habitats where the gobies are found and because of their reproductive habits. Some invasive species have been in Hawaii for over 100 years, especially the snakehead.

Mn_rebel knows what's up. There is a sweet little spot in Waipahu I used to slay smallmouth bass. I do miss that island! Not the traffic though!

No it was in a sub division below a bridge. Close to h1. Cold spring fed less the 1/2 mile from the ocean. Tons of smallies. Hip up Matsumotos in haliewa for me and get some shave ice.
