African River Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hi all! Not much to report in the ways of progress, but I was going to share pics of two of my three little synos but my phones being stupid and won't upload another picture atm.

Please excuse the algae on the glass and the glare from the sun. Also please excuse my terrible photography skills..

This is Felix, he was the very first one we got. You can also see Mike's tail hanging over the wood in the top right of the picture:IMG_20171006_135547_531.JPG

I have another pic of Felix and some photos of Salem to share but as stated above my phone is being stupid and won't let me upload another picture

I'll set a reminder and try uploading again later, I don't know why my phones being stupid all of a sudden though. Its a little annoying...

Nothing like a cat climbing a tree lol. I think Felix is very happy in there.

Great concept, I'm going to have to read thsi whole thread once I get some free time.

Quick question: since this is a river tank, are you going to have a laminar flow style setup? Cause that would be cool!

I have no idea what a laminar flow even is so probably not unless it happens by coincidence or someone educates me about it :D

My reminder didn't go off yesterday because stupid me accidentally set it for today

Please excuse the algae in the tank, I'm ready to pull my hair out because of the stupid crap. Anyways, some more pics of Felix:IMG_20171005_162208.jpg
Felix again, sort of:

I was going to share some of Salem too but upon closer inspection of the photos I realized they weren't properly in focus so only Felix for now.

I will keep trying for pics of them, specifically Mike because I never see him for long enough to snap a pic, and Salem as he has a perfect little leopard spot in the center of his face and its adorable! :D

Nice looking setup
Thanks! I'm hoping to have more wood for it in the next few weeks, then I can work on making the scape look pretty. :D

Felix and friends are still indeed on the go!

Unfortunately they're not with me at the moment, my ex has been looking after them for 6+ months until I can find stable housing as my life has been really hectic the last two years or so. But this thread is looooong overdue for an update! So heres what's changed since the last one.

They've all grown a lot since this thread was started. I'd guess Felix and Salem to be about 9-10 cms now!

I'm pretty sure Mike is some kind of hybrid, he's much larger than Felix or Salem. I'd guess around 12cm and probably double their size in overall mass. I've been trying to get a picture of him when I visit to ask for a rough ID (I'm fully aware that's like trying to ID a midevil) but I can't get one because the little turd is either hiding in a dark spot or moving faster than my phone camera can focus on every time I visit.

They're still in the same tank. They still share with kuhlli loaches and cae until I get them back. My ex has moved all our fish into three tanks to make maintenance easier for him as he works a lot.

Otherwise everything's much the same as last time, hence the lack of updates. :D

Actually tell a lie! Before I lost my house I got an awesome bargain on a pair of 4'Lx2W'x1'H tanks so the synos will get one of those when I'm stable and have a spare bit of money to put into it.
It holds slightly less water than their current tank but after I add a sump I can make that up easily. It has a much better footprint IMO than their current thin/tall tank does. Both tanks are 4' long. :)

Thanks. Things have been a bit full on but I'm getting there.

I'm very lucky that my ex cares about our fish as much as I do. I'd be heartbroken if anything happened to them.
