I have Africans and Americans in one tank I think... As far as I am aware the convicts are Americans and everything besides my red acara's are Mbuna's. I LOVE my Mbuna's. They are hand tame, like to be touched, breed easily, are very colorful and despite the so called territorial anger only, they are vicious little buggers. The convicts are... Well.... Nasty. But they are only like that when they have fry. When they don't have fry the mbuna are far more nasty than they are.
The acara ladies are so laid back they are horizontal.
I prefer my mbuna over any other kind of cichlid to be honest. They have personality, are colorful and they have attitude.
