Aggressive and Tough Fish!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think people might be missing the point here, you have four of the most aggressive fish in a tank that is the minimum size to accomodate one of them for life. Those fish will out grow that space quickly and if your seeing fireworks in there already it wont be long before that playful fighting becomes one dominate fish killing the rest. I hope you are planning a massive tank upgrade or on picking your favorite fish out of the four soon, otherwise get ready to waking up and finding dead tankmates. Placing fish in a small space so they fight is not cool and im surprised more people havent already burned you for it. I hope im wrong and this post was just a bit of fun and your already planning your next move for the welfare of your fish. good luck in whatever you do

I also can't believe that his point was not made sooner. I know what the OP was trying to say about the fish (and agree with that point). But don't think that this point should be made at the expense of some very aggressive fish in a tank that is meant to keep any one of them as a solo or wet pet.

I guess this should not surprise me from a person also talking about dog fighting in the same post. That is more or less what he is setting up in this tank...a dog fight among fish. Problem is that no dog wins a dog fight. They have both lost long before the fight ever begins. Same as these fish in this 75 gallon tank. I wouldn't even say you need to upgrade your tank because I don't see you going from a 75 gallon to a tank size that could actually reasonably house these fish together if there even is such a tank. I will say you should pick one and make it a wet pet.

The 75 is not a perminate tank for these fish. I already returned the RD/Midas because he was a little to aggressive. I have a 125g and a 90 where i can accomadate the three fish.

Who said I was doing this as a blood sport? I never had that intention. For you to judge me like that is wrong of you. I understand what being responsible is! The reason for my post was just to make an observation on what i saw! That was it. I hope no one took it the wrong way

so, using examples is wrong? Sorry you feel this way. The dog fighting was used because of gameness not for any other reason. Since you know me and what i have and do not have I guess you know best! I am sorry, I did not come to this forum to bash people, you are wrong for passing judgement on me. You make statements that are false and have nothing to do with what i posted.

Good luck being ignorant for the rest of your life.

^^ come on, take it easy. He's just offering some advice. I didn't even realize that you had bigger tanks available till 2 posts ago. Some folks might consider the thread itself to be somewhat ignorant because ALL cichlids have aggression potential but no two fishes personalities, or tank mates or tank size are the same. All cichlids will show aggression if there is a lack of space, which you have obviously been witnessing.

trying to compare aggressiveness or attitude or stamina is kinda pointless, because no two setups are identical.

lol @ comparing dog fighting to aggressive fish, although my chancho reminds me of a past boerboel i used to own, a bully that wanted to dominate (but not kill) everything. i love big guard type dogs, i've had many over the years, an abpt, a scott/johnson hybrid american bulldog, a 180 lb boerboel that loved me but not many other people/animals, and now my favorites, 2 well bred german shepherds.

those boerboel are huge, a south african lady i know has one, i had never seen such big paws on a puppy.

first off its good to know you returned the rd/midas if it was causing issues

the reason people jump to conclusions is when you word things like you did in your first post, you clearly say you have a buttikoferi, rd/midas, rose queen and flowerhorn which is a clash of personalities which makes for an interesting show. Doesnt sound great.

thats the kind of thing that sets alarm bells ringing

if you have bigger tanks put them in there now to stopany unwanted aggression

good luck in your choices

I have a 3 in half inch Cuban cichlid that wont back down from my Vieja Bifasciatus that is 6 inches and is the most aggressive cichlid I have in my 125 gallon tank.Which I am sure most will not find Vieja Bifasciatus to be that aggressive, but this one is.
