Aggressive and Tough Fish!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
First off I would like to say that I am glad you have already taken a step in the right direction by taking the RD back. But I would still question your intentions in the first place. Larger tanks or not you still chose to put these fish together in a tank that would not accommodate for them and talked about watching it in a tone that made it sound like entertainment value.

Secondly, I will not take back what I said about dog fighting. You didn't just use it as a comparison once but a few times in this thread and you made it sound like you were comparing your fish to dog fights you had seen in person by using breed specific examples. If this was the case, even if you were just a spectator, it is still extremely heinous IMO to have any involvement in this what so ever.

Lastly I don't see even a 125 being a long term success with a flowerhorn and the others together. Flowerhorns are breed to be a 'wet pet' or show fish and seem to have very high and varying degrees of aggression making them very dangerous and unpredictable to tankmates. I would leave the Flowerhorn in the 75 or the 90 to be kept by itself and maybe see if the other two could work out in the 125.

I have come to a new understanding of why a fish gets aggressive, some say territorial, it has little or nothing to do with that. It all comes down to this, they just don't like nor will they tolerate another fish, period. For whatever reason, like my Oscar will not tolerate skittish fish or fish that look shiny or metallic or fish that look eel like. Fish are racists lol

I have two female Convicts, one is big and the other very small. For a very long time, the big one would chase the small one and terrorize it. Then one day, I found the big convict in a corner of the tank and didn't know why. It turns out the small one was chasing it and became the new Alpha. It was the most funny thing ever watching this tiny Convict chasing the bigger Convict. The small Convict just had enough and would not tolerate any more bullying.

A lot of Fish profiles are not correct, it's all relative to the individual fish.
